Genealogy Workshop
Saturday February 15 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
If genealogy research is something you’ve been thinking about, you won’t want to miss this free session!
Wendy Barber, retired librarian and self-professed ancestry nerd, has spent the last 22 years researching her family’s history and has learned all sorts of valuable lessons that she’s keen to share with others. Along the way, Wendy discovered some great research resources and some surprises (like new family connections). With all the information she gathered, she has been compiling family stories that she shares with her relatives.
Wendy will cover a variety of topics, including:
- getting started on your journey and what you should learn from family members while you still have the chance
- using Ancestry (the website/company) and developing a family tree in a way that makes it easy to maintain
- using census records and other records such as birth, marriage, death and ship records
- using DNA analysis
- considering privacy issues with family trees and DNA analysis
- and more!
