We’re hiring! We have a part-time library clerk position available.

Bibliothèque Allard Regional Library is seeking an enthusiastic and friendly individual to fill the part-time position of library clerk starting in January. The work schedule will include every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and every other Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the St. Georges location, and other shifts on an occasional basis as required.

The successful candidate will perform a variety of tasks related to the operation of the library, including:

  • Assisting patrons in locating library materials.
  • Assisting patrons in using the library’s e-resources and in using the public computers.
  • Assisting patrons with services such as Wi-Fi printing, scanning and faxing.
  • Registering library patrons and updating records when necessary.
  • Checking out, renewing and checking in library materials.
  • Organizing and shelving library materials.
  • Processing interlibrary loans to and from other libraries.
  • Book wrapping and book repair.
  • Processing payments for overdue fines, DVD rental fees and programming activities.
  • Performing tasks related to the opening and closing of the library.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability and willingness to work with the public.
  • Computer knowledge and proficiency including basic troubleshooting skills and the ability to assist patrons with library technology.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Interest in library work.

Ability to speak French is an asset.
Previous library experience is an asset.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check are required.
